Snow Like Ashes is a book about a warrior girl named Meira. The kingdom of Winter that she hails from was once a glorious kingdom. Then everything changed when the opposing kingdom of Spring attacked. Some Winterians were murdered, the city was destroyed and the surviving inhabitants of Winter were taken prisoner. Meira, Mather (the heir to the Winterian throne), Sir (the Winterian general), and some other minor characters managed to escape. This small band of refugees has to repair their conduit, their source of magic, so they can free all of the Winterians in the work camps. As the conflict rages on, Meira realizes she may be more important than she realizes.
Quite honestly, I think this is the best book I’ve ever read. It has a wonderful story about a girl wanting to restore her kingdom to its former glory. It also has a good balance between fighting and peaceful challenges that Meira must overcome. Winter is my favorite season, and to read about a kingdom named Winter where it is winter all year around was very enjoyable. I would recommend it to anyone because it was so good.
There were some plot twists that made me rethink how the story would turn out, and I liked that.

Random stuff about me:
* Favorite book: Hmmmm, this is hard, since it changes all the time as I read new stuff and depending on what mood I’m in. However, there is one book that I know will still make me snort with laughter even when I’m 80 years old — The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, by Douglas Adams.
* Favorite food: perfectly made toast
* Favorite band/music: Cake. I will never get enough Cake.
* Favorite reference question: Q: How long does it take the galaxy to rotate once? A: It’s called a galactic or cosmic year and it takes about 225-250 million earth years.
* Pets: I have two cats and a dog. Marcus and Grey are the cats who were rescued from a box in the woods when they were just little puffballs. When they are not acting insane, they are very sweet and purr loudly. My dog is named Peter and he's a medium size poodle mix (we call him the substandard poodle). He's got floppy ears, snores and loves green beans.
