Four was a prequel to the Divergent series, but told from Four’s point of view. It began at Four’s Choosing Ceremony and ended towards the middle of the first book of the series, Divergent. At the end, there were three short anecdotes from Divergent told from Four’s point of view. Throughout the book, you get to see into Four’s childhood, initiation, occupation after initiation, and you get to see Four fall in love.
This book is a must-read for Divergent lovers, though you have to have read Divergent, Insurgent, and Allegiant to fully understand the book. The book was written in three parts though, so it lacked chapters. This caused it to be a bit confusing, but that is the only problem I believe there is with this novel. The characters so lovable (and some hate-able) as always in the Divergent series, and the plot is full of twists and turns. Personally, Four is one of my favorite characters, and to see the story from his point of view was truly amazing.
One memorable thing about this book is witnessing Four’s personal relationships from his point of view, like with Tris, his father, and his mother.
