Imagine living in a world where women are not allowed to have an education. In every corner, danger lurks waiting to capture you at the right moment. Malala Yousafzai is a sixteen-year-old girl living in Swat Valley, Pakistan, who goes to an all-girl school. She gives speeches all around her town and blogs on websites to raise awareness on why girls should have an education. The Taliban (who is against women education) devised a plan to kill Malala, to stop her efforts in promoting women education.
I am Malala was an intriguing autobiography that I enjoyed thoroughly. It was a bit long in a couple of places, but it was still very interesting. There was a lot on Pakistan’s politics, which was described very well. Well into the book, you start feeling like you are extremely fortunate to have a proper education. After reading this book, I hope that women all over the world get a proper education very soon.
One very memorable thing about this book is when Malala, knowing that standing up for women’s education is life threatening, still continued to do so. This makes her very brave and confident. Also, after this book I became thankful for everything I have.
