Read + Review — The Hollow Boy by Jonathan Stroud

51KPZmAGU8L._SX327_BO1,204,203,200_.jpgThis enticing and creepy book is about a girl named Lucy Carlyle who is in an agency called Lockwood & Co. with two other people in the in the agency, George, the researcher, and Lockwood, the owner of Lockwood & Co. This book is taken in the near future where ghosts come alive every night. The society of Britain figured out that young people can actually these ghosts. So agencies were born to destroy ghosts. Lockwood & Co. is a small agency compared to others. Lucy likes how their team is functioning but Lockwood wants to add another member because of how busy they are. He brings in Holly Munro to join the team and Lucy automatically dislikes her. The rest of the story is about how Lucy’s hatred towards Holly causes problems. This book is the third book in the Lockwood & Co. series.

This book and this entire series is one of my favorites. I started to read this series last year. I love how Jonathan Stroud creates mistrust in Lucy when Holly arrives. It makes you think what will happen next between them. The other big thing I like in this book is that we never truly know about Lockwood’s backstory. This makes you curious about his past life and how he even came to own Lockwood & Co. without any funding. I really can’t say anything bad about this book.

The most memorable thing in this book for me was the suspense. When they were on missions, the way they waited for ghosts to appear made me wonder if this mission would be easy or hard. When the ghost finally came my, my heart would skip a beat and a chill would be sent down my spine.
