Jamie Grimm’s life hadn’t been normal ever since that fateful day on the highway. Taking place after his prequel: “I Totally Funniest,” Jamie is the winner of the Planet’s Funniest Kid Comic Contest in Hollywood. One of these prizes includes making his own TV show: Jamie Funnie (it’s funny because they both end in ie). As excited as Jamie is for this once in a lifetime opportunity, life never seems to be on his side. A new bully at school named Lars Johannsen just recently moved to Minnesota, and he isn’t too fond of Jamie for winning the contest. He easily takes out Stevie Kosgrov, Jamie’s cousin and former bully of his middle school. Back with the development of “Jamie Funnie,” Jamie’s middle-school life doesn’t seem to make any of the developers laugh, and they decide to pitch in some rather bad ideas. As development continues, Jamie is only constantly left out of his own sitcom. Will Jamie back down, or will he show the world that “he funny?” Stay tuned!
This book really gave me a sense of suspense because there was always the chance that something would go wrong in Jamie’s story (which usually does). This book also gives a further insight on what it’s like to be a Hollywood star and the effects it can have on a person. I was shocked at just how distant Jamie was from his personal life, school, friends, and family. I also just loved the humor in this book, because it really made me smile.
I also really liked that Jamie was a role model and hero that inspired a lot of the disabled children in his book. In my opinion, Jamie is an inspiration and hero to those going through tough times.
