The main character in Ruthless is a 17-year-old girl named Ruth. She uses her intelligence and strength to attempt survival after being abducted and trapped in the forest with no one searching for her. Ruth learns many things during her journey, not only about survival, but about who she is as a person. She and her kidnapper are the only two main characters.
I LOVED this book, it was a real page-turner. I would recommend this book for young adults, but not younger kids. Even though there wasn’t much dialogue, I feel like I really got to know Ruth and her personality. This book made me think about how I would handle the situation myself. Naturally, I disliked the criminal, but the character was well written. I liked that the author had flashbacks at the end of each chapter, so I understood his/her thought process better.
Ruth’s determination and strength are the things I remember best about this book. She used memories of her life and loved ones to keep her strong while she was scared and feared for her life.
