Tris Prior is a special person. Tris and her friends live in a city where nobody knows what is outside the fence surrounding it. There are some people in the city, like Tris, who don’t belong to one of the factions, groups that the government has added to the city. These people are the Divergent. There is a video that Tris and her friends put up on every screen in the city that’s from one of the people outside the fence. The outsiders said that the people are an experiment and that the Divergents are not the problems, they are the solutions. The outsiders have asked the people, once there are enough Divergents, to send some outside the fence. No one wants to go and the city leader won’t let them. So Tris, Four, and some people from a rebel group called the Allegiants defy the rules and set out on a journey to find out answers to the questions they have wondered for a long time.
I think this book was catchy and had lots of action. There were thrilling moments where the heat of battle really got through to you. The author was really precise on all the details and that made it possible to really easily imagine what each scene and place was like. This book’s characters were pretty much the same with very few personality changes. Roth’s style of writing was very serious and intense, but there were also many humorous parts in the book.
One memorable thing about this book was the sequence of events. They flowed together very smoothly and they seemed like the kind of stuff that Roth would write. The plots were intense, but sometimes relaxing to read too! If you like reading Veronica Roth’s books, this should be at the top of your list! I would rate this book five stars and advise all my friends to read it.
