Read + Review: Project Alpha by D.J. MacHale

51je-Tg3pHL._SY344_BO1,204,203,200_The books setting is in a world that is close to extinction. There isn’t enough power to fuel the world, but there is a solution. Four out of eight kids are chosen to try out to go to a planet and grab a power source to keep the Earth alive. It’s a top secret mission, and the 12 year-old kids have to go through many tests before they know which four of them will go on the top secret mission.

I liked the twists and turns of every page. There are quite a few plot twists. You also feel an emotional bond with the characters. Some of them you absolutely hate, some you love, and some you will think are annoying. But, that depends on the person. Anyway, the amount of humor is balanced with the seriousness of the book so it’s not a comedy novel.

The plot twists in the book make you think, “what will happen next?” and you don’t just read through it. The book also doesn’t explain everything, and some things you have to figure out yourself.
