Jamie Grimm has just won the Planet’s Funniest Kid Comic Contest, and he is starring in his own TV show called “Jamie Funnie.” He doesn’t really want to do the TV show, but has gotten one million dollars in advance from Mr. Joe Admodio, the producer, to do it, and has spent all of the money, so it isn’t much of a choice. The good thing is that Jamie does get to miss school, and have a private tutor that can cram a whole school days’ worth of learning into one hour. However, Jamie is pressured so much by the Hollywood people that he isn’t really funny, and he completely forgets about his friends at school. Can Jamie make up to his friends and become funny again?
I loved the book in every way that the author wrote it. The book was full of pictures, comics, and funny details, and I liked how James Patterson related them all together with the text. Also, the author kept in mind that this book was for Middle School kids, and had deep vocabulary that wasn’t too deep, but deep enough that we could learn and enjoy the story. When I was reading the story, I made many connections to my own life at Middle School, and compared myself to Jamie while laughing my head off.
I really liked the strong vocabulary and quotes inside the pictures. They added to humor that the author gave, and it all related back together.
