This is a satire about Greek Mythology. It is a collection of twelve stories about heroes from Greek Mythology, such as Hercules, Jason, Theseus, and others. The narrator, Percy Jackson, a character in other Rick Riordan books, begins each story with a detailed description of the setting and characters. Although each story takes place in ancient times, the descriptions make the places and characters come alive. The relationships between the characters and their parents, who were often Greek gods, were most interesting. In each story, the hero who is famous and seems to have a wonderful life, always has problems and troubles.
For me the best part of the book was the humor. Reading this book caused me to become interested in Greek Mythology. I really liked the way the author mixed some modern things like “Selfies,” “CD collections, “and “magazines, in with Ancient Greece. I never thought about Greek Mythology as a humorous subject before reading this book. All of the stories were exciting. Each story kept my interest and I had a hard time putting the book down.
I think the most memorable thing about the book was the way the author made Greek Mythology seem humorous. For me the humor made these heroes from thousands of years ago seem very much alive.
