Demigods are descendants of the Greek Gods. In the beginning, Leo and his crew travel to the Roman camp, Camp Jupiter, to try to make peace with the Romans. They need to combine forces to defeat Gaea, the evil God of Earth. Annabeth, the daughter of Athena, goes on a quest to find the Athena Parthenos. She has to overcome challenging obstacles to complete something that no child of Athena has ever completed before. The demigods are trying to close the doors of death. These doors let dead creatures come back to life. Near the end, the demigods battle a group of giants, Gaea’s forces. There is an unbearable cliffhanger at the end of the book.
I admired the bravery of all the demigods, especially when it came to saving each other. I liked how the chapters were divided into perspectives of different characters. Some characters were brave and didn’t try to interact much with each other, while some were driven and had a great sense of humor. The incorporation of Greek mythology was wonderful. As I read the book, I thought what I would do with powers that could control water or the sky.
I will always remember how Leo described his ship. When anyone said anything bad about it, he raged. He described as if it was some gold treasure.
