Cienna Ree and Thane Kyrell are inhabitants of Jelucan, a planet which has been recently seized by the villainous Galactic Empire. Cienna and Thane do not have much in common, as they are from different social classes, but their shared passion for aviation makes them friends. They help each other study, and as a result, both are accepted into the most prestigious school in the Galactic Empire. As time passes, Cienna and Thane grow even closer, but Thane starts to feel hatred towards the Galactic Empire, while Cienna becomes even more loyal to it. This causes Thane to leave the Galactic Empire and join the Rebel forces. Will Thane and Cienna ever unite again?
I thought that this book was decent. This book connected with the main Star Wars series very well. The book moved along at a good pace, but I feel that there were too few pages depicting the childhoods of Cienna and Thane. One thing that I did not like about the book was the fact that Cienna was so loyal to the Galactic Empire. Why would someone in the right mind join an evil empire?
I would recommend this book to anybody who is interested in Star Wars. Even though there were some things about the book that I did not like, this book satisfied my cravings for science fiction.
One memorable part of the book was when Thane chose to join the rebel forces. I was surprised because he left Cienna, who was still loyal to the Galactic Empire.
