Read + Review: Cinder by Marissa Meyer

cinderIn the first book of the Lunar Chronicles, a cyborg girl named Cinder lives in the city of New Beijing with her cruel step family and her android Iko. Cinder has never even imagined meeting or liking Prince Kai, so getting involved in an intergalactic problem is completely unbelievable to her. Her journey begins when one of her stepsister catches letumosis, a plague with no cure, and Cinder’s stepmother signs her up to be a subject in a research, trying to find a cure to letumosis, during which Cinder learns of a stunning secret about herself. Along with all this, the evil Lunar Queen Levana wants to marry Emperor Kaito and become empress. So it is now up to Cinder to investigate more about her past, to stop the evil queen from succeeding, and to save the intergalactic world.

I think that this is one of the best books I have ever read. I loved how Marissa Meyer made this story so that it relates to the fairy tale Cinderella. My favorite character in this book would be Cinder because of her determination and bravery. A favorite scene of mine was when Emperor Kai came to ask Cinder to the ball and gave her silk white gloves. All in all, this book was amazing and probably one of the best I have ever read.

One memorable thing about this book is how strong and brave Cinder was through hard times. No matter how badly her step family treated her and no matter how much responsibilities she was given, Cinder lived through it all very courageously.
