In the age of immortality, the world struggles to maintain its population. The best of humanity are chosen to execute a certain amount of people each year in order to control the society. These people go by the name of scythes. They choose people at random and use an unimaginable variety of weapons. Citra and Rowan are chosen to be apprentices of scythe Faraday and are pinned against each other, as only one of them can become the feared and powerful scythe. They learn the ways to kill, and question themselves, do I want power, and never fear death, or be the cause of killings of innocent people every day?
Scythe was one of the best books that taught me a great lesson. I loved this book because it kept me on my toes every time I flipped the page. The characters had very different personalities, which made them stronger when they worked together. I did not like this book because some of the scenes were not very descriptive, so I struggled to get a good image of the place. However, the writing had a great flow to it, and it was very easy to follow.
The memorable thing in this book was definitely the moral of the story. It showed me that you should fight for what is right. Even though Citra and Rowan were very competitive, they showed mercy and were kind to each other.
