Read + Review: Pashmina by Nidhi Chanani

[Cover]

Priyanka Das has questions for her mother. Why did her mother leave India, and where was her father? One day, while going through her closet, she stumbles across a magnificent scarf, which takes her to a alternate India. While all of this is going on, her Uncle, who is like a father to her, announces that she will be getting a new cousin soon. After the baby is born, they find out that Shilpa (the baby) was very sick. Will Priyanka find out about her mother’s past in India, figure out the secrets behind the scarf, and somehow save Shilpa? Read the book to find out!

This was a great book, and was a very fast read. What I liked about it, was that it told you a good deal about Indian culture, which made it interesting to read. It is also in graphic novel form, which was different, because I have not read many books in that form. It was a quick read, and I enjoyed reading it.

One memorable thing about this book was that whenever Priyanka got transported to India, instead of the book being in black in white, it changed to color. I thought that was memorable because it showed that she was in an alternate reality, and also showed some of the culture in India, through color and drawings, which was neat.
