Teen Readathon – Pick the Charity!

****Voting is now closed for the charity selection****

penny-jar-392378Our Teen Advisory Boards are plotting and scheming in hopes of hosting a Readathon on Saturday April 1st!

Here’s how it will work: Teens will read at their local Henrico library during a set period of time. For every page they read, a donation will be made to a worthy cause by a local sponsor.

We are in the process of planning this read-a-thon, and before we move on to the next step, we need YOU to choose the charity that our reading will benefit!

Choose from the charities listed in the poll below, and tell your friends to vote too!  These charities were selected by HCPL Teen Advisory Boards across the county, and each one is a worthy cause.

Henrico Christmas Mother 2015 Book Drive

xmm-blog300

The Henrico Christmas Mother donation season is coming up, and our Teen Advisory Boards are asking for your help. They want to be able to deliver A LOT of books this year to the Christmas Mother and would appreciate your donations of new or like new books for children and teens.

Who is the Christmas Mother? This year’s Christmas Mother is Beverly Cocke. She stresses the importance of helping those in need this holiday season:

“There is nothing like the joy in knowing that you played a small part in bringing a smile to a stranger’s face and sharing the message of love and hope across Henrico during the holiday season.”

Henrico County Public Library contributes by receiving your book donations this month. When the Christmas Mother starts taking their donations on December 3rd, we deliver the books we have collected to the Christmas Mother’s warehouse, where they will be distributed to children in the county.

Donations of new or like new children’s and teen books may be brought to any branch. We have donation boxes for collection. Thanks for your support in helping make Christmas a little bit brighter for children in need!

Please drop off your donations by Monday, November 30th.

For more information about the program, please visit the Henrico Christmas Mother Website.
